Udupi, Nov 18: Dr Ni Bi Vijay Ballal, managing trustee of Janardhan Mahakali temple, Ambalapady inaugurated ‘Makkala Sambhrama – 2010, a cultural extravaganza of school children at their temple premises here on Thursday November 18. It was organized by Dr Kota Shivaram Karant Makkala Sahitya Vedike, Saligrama.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ballal said that the present education system lays importance on marks and grades. Although it’s good, it will not achieve alround growth of students. The heads of education institutions are required to concentrate on human values, challenges in the life of students, upbringing in their families and their valuable contributions to the society, said Dr Ballal.
Meanwhile, Dr Ballal stressed that the students have inherent talents that would get the boost by taking part in the Makkala Sambrama, stressed Dr Ballal.
The student Srujana Adiga in her presidential address said that the parents of majority children aspire to join them for engineering and medicine. The children can grow richer in knowledge, if they are encouraged on Kannada literature in order to be educated on the cultural hierarchy of Karnataka. There is no dearth of topic for discussion - political upheavals in the state and love for English. The sustenance of Kannada will be in jeopardy, if the trend of English taking over every sphere of life goes on unabated, Srujana added.
The district public instruction department deputy director Dr B V Mahidas, block education officer B Vasant Shetty, Brahmavar block education officer B Nagesh Shanbagh and block education co-ordinator Ramachandra Joshi were present.
Perampalli Narasimha Aithal welcomed the gathering. Secretary Nilavar Surendra Adiga proposed the vote of thanks. Trupti K R and Sridevi Aithal compered the programme.
