Bangalore, Nov 18: The centre is contemplating a law to check denotification of land after acquisition by the government, said union minister for law M Veerappa Moily.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme at Makali here, the minister expressed his displeasure that the only alternative for the poor is to snatch land from the land grabbers as poor were not getting a plot of land. The instances of abusing power for labnd grabbing has seen a rise, he noted.
He said that the appointment of an observer to look into illegal mining and irregularities in implementation of central government schemes was also under consideration. He blamed the state government for not taking steps to identify beneficiaries for Indira Awas Yojana to provide shelter to urban poor.
