Mangaluru, Nov 29: MLA U T Khader urged the district administration and government to consider seriously the new variant of coronavirus.
Addressing media here on Monday November 29, Khader said, “We cannot stop the spread of the virus. The government and district administration should be prepared to tackle the new variant of the virus without getting panicked. Instead of creating confusion over closing schools and imposing lockdown, the government should take steps for quick vaccination.”
He also said, “In the district, 90% have taken first dose and 60% have taken the second dose. Steps have to be taken to complete 100% vaccination in the district. Vaccination for children also has to come soon. Vaccination should not go waste and the government should start giving third dose as well if necessary for the frontline workers to protect them. There has to be an increase in manpower such as nurses and lab technicians so that frontline workers will be prepared in the coming days.
“Earlier, I had urged to hand over tabs to health workers to make their work even easier to store data. The government and district administration should focus on giving vaccination. A meeting has to be called by the district administration to chalk out plans to tackle the new variant,” he said.
