Puttur: Youth Robs Valuables After Feeding Poison to Aunt

Puttur, Nov 18: A youth from the taluk has been accused of visiting the home of his maternal aunt as a guest, giving her cake laced with poisonous substance, and then decamping with her valuables.

Shashikumar from Keyyoor village in the taluk had visited his aunt, Hemanavaty’s home in Kalenja village as a guest. On Tuesday November 16 morning, he reportedly gave cake to his aunt to eat. As poison was mixed with the cake, Hemavaty collapsed soon after eating it. Shashikumar has been accused of taking away eight sovereigns of gold and two lac rupees in cash from his aunt’s house.

Hemavaty is being treated in Puttur government hospital. Shashikumer, it is said, knew that gold and cash were available at the house of his aunt, who was due to be married soon.
