Beltangady, Nov 17: The annual feature at Dharmasthala, ‘Laksha Deepotsava (festival of lights)’ will be celebrated from December 1 to 6 this year.
The highlights of the programme will be a state level exhibition, 78th all-religions meet on December 4, and literary meet on December 5. Under the guidance of Hemavati V Heggade, ‘Samavasarana puja’ of Sri Chandranatha Swamy will be conducted on December 6.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Mangalore city corporation commissioner, Dr Vijayaprakash K N, at a function scheduled to be held at 5 pm on December 1. This function, proposed to be held at the play ground of Sri Manjunatheshwara High Schol, will be presided over by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade. At the stage erected in the exhibition venue, entertainment programmes will be presented every evening.
The all-religions meet will be presided over by Sri Swamy Avadheshananda Giri Maharaj from Haryana. Retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice Shivaraj V Patil, will inaugurate the meet. Sheikh Jabiulla from Nakuva Enterprises Mysore, Bellary Bishop, Fr Henry D’Souza, and retired principal of Ganapathi PU College Mangalore, Dr Anantraj Indra, will deliver lectures. This will be followed by the performance of a dance drama by Sheela Unnikrishnan from Chennai.
The literary meet will be presided over by Nadoja Dr Hampa Nagarajaiah. State minister for parliamentary affairs and urban development, S Suresh Kumar, will inaugurate the meet.
During the Laksha Deepotsav, various services including car festival by using silver chariot will be offered to Lord Manjunatha Swamy.
