Mangalore: Twin-districts Experience Rains, Thunder and Lightning

Mangalore, Nov 16: Most places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts received heavy rains coupled with thunder and lightning since evening on Monday November 15, turning the roads slushy and unmotorable. Disrupted landline connections and damaged electronic equipments have become a routine affair in these districts, because of untimely rains and lightning.

Sullia taluk in particular, received rain during the day too. The city and surrounding areas got light drizzle in the evening. A person named Saraswati from Uppinangady suffered electric shock because of lightning. Several electric poles were uprooted, and buses on village routes ran with inordinate delay.

Cloudy weather and rains started in a major part of Udupi district since Monday afternoon. The intensity of lightning was severe.

The meteorological department’s prediction valid till Wednesday morning says that the coast is likely to receive rain with thunder and lightning as before.
