Mangalore, Nov 15: While a few places in Karnataka coast received rains during the day on Sunday November 14, the night was marked with rains coupled with winds at almost all the places. Thunder and lightning accompanied the rains.
Two persons, Seeta (62), living in Attavar Babugudde 4th cross in the city, and her son, Navin (32) were injured due to lightning on Sunday night, when both of them were at the courtyard of their home. They were admitted to KMC Hospital here. After lightning struck the house of Marli Hengsu in Golihole near Byndoor in Kundapur taluk, two persons, Raghu and Geeta, suffered minor injuries. Electrical wiring and electronic equipments of their house were also damaged.
The fury of rains was considerably less in Udupi district, where only a few places received rains on Sunday.
The city, many places in Bantwal, Sullia, Puttur and Beltangady taluks, and places like Mulky and Kadaba, got good rains on Sunday night. In many places, the roads, which were temporarily repaired with the help of sand and crushed stones, reverted to their previous conditions, due to rains. Sand and pebbles were seen washed onto the roads in most of the places including national highways.
The meteorological department has predicted normal to heavy rains in the coast and a few places in the hinterlands during the next 24 hours.
