Mangalore: Varsity PG Centre to be Ready in One Year

Mangalore, Nov 14: Mangalore University vice chancellor Prof T C Shivashankaramurthy said that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will lay foundation stone for the science block of the new PG centre at Chikkaluvara on November 15 at 10.00 am. 

He was addressing a press meet here on Saturday November 13. He said that the work on the block will be completed within a year. The government has sanctioned 70.47 acre land and a request has been made to sanction additional 50 acre land adjacent to the already sanctioned land. He added that this is for the first time that the Mangalore University is starting its PG centre outside Mangalore.

VC said that MSc in Microbiology, bio chemistry courses will be started at Chikkaluvara from next year. In the next five to six years, postgraduation courses in bio technology, MCom and Chemistry among others will be offered at the centre. A proposal of Rs 24.50 crore has been sent to the government for the starting of arts and business administration block, hostel, staff quarters and administrative block, he said.
