Chitradurga: Four Die, 40 Injured, in Bus Mishap

Chitradurga, Nov 13: After a crowded private bus suddenly overturned at Aralahalli Gate in Hosadurga taluk in the district on Friday November 12, four passengers died on the spot, while 40 others sustained injuries. The bus was coming to Hosadurga from C B Kere.

The deceased have been identified as Chandrappa (65) from Bukkasagara, college student Ambika (19) from Kanchipura, Pooja (5) from Javoor, and Rangappa (50) from B V Nagar.

Eyewitnesses said that the bus, which was speeding towards Hosadurga, suddenly made a strange noise before swerving and turning horizontally, before the front portion of the bus dived into the roadside slush. All the four passengers, who were sitting in the front seats, died after they drowned in the slush. These four bodies could be extricated from the slush after putting lot of efforts.

Local people helped the policemen in rescue operations. Out of the injured, the condition of 12 is stated to be serious. All the injured were admitted into hospitals in Davangere and Chitradurga.

District deputy commissioner, Aditya Amlan Biswas, has declared that relief at the rate of a lac of rupees each will be paid to the families of the deceased. Cheques amounting five thousand rupees each being the relief amount, were handed over to the injured persons on the spot.
