Mangalore, Nov 13: To the relief of farmers and those who had planned to hold religious and functions on Friday November 12, rains remained retreated during the day. Subrahmanya in Sullia taluk was the only place to get some rains on Friday.

In the meantime, reports about losses inflicted by lightning and rains on Thursday night to electrical equipments, houses, generator and people have come in from various places. Telephone lines to several rural areas were disrupted. A well in Narikombu in Bantwal collapsed. In many places, paddy crops, which were cut and left in the fields for drying, were washed away, inflicting losses running into thousands of rupees on the concerned farmers.
