Mangalore, Nov 12: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Subodh Yadav, has set December 31, 2010 as the deadline for the use of natural calamity fund and local area development funds of MLAs and MP pertaining to year 2006-08. He has clarified that no proposal for extension of the said date will be entertained.
He gave this instruction at the meeting of officials of various departments, convened at the court hall in his office on Thursday November 11. The meeting had been specifically called to discuss the implementation of projects under the above grants.
He said that January 31, 2011 will be the last date for completing works under the above grants for the year 2009-10. In a few exceptional cases, where the reasons cited were acceptable, extensions were permitted. After scrutinizing records of the zilla panchayat, PWD, Nirmiti Kendra and city corporation between 2005 and 2010, he alerted the officials about the differences found in the figures furnished at district and taluk levels. While seeking report on completion of taluk-wise works under the MLAs grants, he asked the concerned to bring it to his notice, if they face any problems.
He said that as far as yardsticks of quality are concerned, he will follow the principles followed by his predecessor. He also warned that wherever found necessary, he will personally inspect the works executed under these grants.
