Mangalore: Demanding Madani’s Release, PDP Organizes Protest at State’s Border

Mangalore, Nov 12: Demanding for the immediate release of People’s Democratic Party (PD) president, Abdul Nasser Madani, who is presently lodged in the Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bangalore, Kasargod district committee of  PDP staged a protest at Talapady near here, which is located on Karnataka’s border with Kerala. Madani was arrested some time back by the policemen from Karnataka, for his alleged involvement with serial blasts which rocked Bangalore in 2008.

Addressing the protestors, PDP leader, Ajitkumar Asad, warned that the party will undertake stronger means of protest in the coming days, if Karnataka government dithers in the matter of releasing Madani.

“Madani had, over a decade back, been arrested by the ‘Pondi (Tamil Nadu)’ policemen. Now, ‘Gowda (Karnataka)’ policemen have arrested him. If Karnataka government remains silent in the belief that today’s protest held on its border is the last we will be holding, they will soon be disillusioned. It will be in their own interests if that government understands that this is the beginning of our protests,” he said.

Earlier in the day, a walkathon protest launched by the party activists was inaugurated at Manjeshwar by PDP Kerala state secretary, Swami Varkalaraj. District secretary, Younus Talangara, PDP activists, K V Purushottam, Siraj, Mailakkad Shaha Kollam, Chandran Tituppunal and a number of other leaders participated.

PDP Kasargod district president, Zubair Padpu, welcomed. The walkathon, which started from Manjeshwar at 3.30 pm, reached Talapady at 4.30 pm. Policemen from Manjeshwar, Ullal and Konaje stations oversaw law and order situation.
