Mangalore: Second Edition of 'Kanoon Mahet' to be Released on Nov 12

Mangalore, Nov 10:
The second edition of 'Kanoon Mahet' by advocate Stany D'Costa will be released on Friday, November 12.

Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Narayana Kharvi will release the book. Mangalore Bar Association president S P Chengappa and orthosurgeon and Konkani writer Dr Edward Nazareth will be the chief guests.

The author said that after Tulu, Konkani community is the largest in Dakshina Kannada. The Konkani-speaking advocates do not make sufficient efforts to create awareness in the community which has resulted in lack of alertness.

"Considering this, I decided to write books in Konkani pertaining to law. This would help facilitate better understanding of law. This also motivated me to write on the subject in various media. The late Konkani author Victor Rodrigues helped me in editing my first book on law, 'Kanoon Daiz',  released by bishop Aloysius D'Souza in November 2009. Having sold over 1,500 copies, it created a milestone in Konkani," said D’Costa.

The new book deals with ten laws which would be very helpful in day-to-day life, he added.
