Mangalore, Nov 9: Canara Bus Operators’ Association has shown its whim towards introducing a scheme of monthly concession pass from November 15 onwards in express buses that ply on the route Mangalore-Udupi-Manipal-Kundapur. This move is taken to ease daily passengers’ burden.
Speaking to presspersons, K Rajavarma Ballal, president of Canara Bus Operators’ Association said that the daily passengers should take 40 coupons that have 30 days of validity. Concession passes are valid in all buses that display white and red stickers reading “Canara Combined Transport (CCT)” on front wind shield, he said.
He said as many as 125 buses out of 150 buses of this route have agreed to this concept and hoped that all the buses would come under this scheme in near future. As per this scheme the passengers’ bus fare will be reduced by 50%.
Passes to be obtained by submitting applications paying Rs 50 and identity card will be issued with a validity of one year. The concession pass number will be entered in the identity card every month.
Application forms will be available at Canara Bus Operators’ Association (Mangalore), Sugama Tourist (Udupi) and Durgamba Motors (Kundapur) from November 10.
