Daijiworld Media Network – Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Nov 9: John Pinto (45), resident o Hirebail in Kalasa, who was driving a Mahindra Bolero vehicle, died on the spot after a mini tempo used for transporting fish hit his vehicle from the opposite direction at Pajegudde near here on Monday November 8.

Pinto also owned the ill-fated vehicle. He was driving the vehicle towards Naravi from Bajagoli, when the accident occurred. Due to the impact of the accident, both the vehicles suffered substantial damages to their front portions, and jumped into a roadside gorge.  Abdul Khader, who was driving the mini tempo, also was grievously injured. He is being treated in a hospital.

The spot where the accident occurred is notorious for such accidents. Because of the blind turn at Nallur Pajegudde Cross, the drivers who are new to this road fail to notice vehicles coming from the opposite direction.
