Udupi, Nov 9: “Under the aegis of Skill Commission and Karnataka State Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation, the 20th state level job fair will be organized in Ammani Ramanna Shetty Hall in the town on November 26 and 27. Already, 19 state level job fairs have been held under the ambitious programme of the state government to train and provide employment opportunities to ten lac unemployed youth in five years,” informed employment commissioner, S R Umashankar and executive director of the corporation, Dr Vishukant Chatpalli. They were addressing a press conference here on Monday November 8.
They said that in the job fairs, those who seek employment, as well as the employers, would be brought together in a single forum. The job aspirants also are given training by the department, they disclosed. “For collecting information about the interests and suitability of the candidates, their evaluation will be held at programmes being conducted in Adi Udupi, Kadri Hills Mangalore and Chikmagalur at the government industrial training institutes (ITI) there on November 9. On November 10, this process will be held in Adi Udupi, Mangalore Kadri Hills, Koteshwar and Puttur Narimogaru government ITIs. Those who have completed SSLC, PUC, ITI, diploma, degree and BE courses may participate in these programmes. They need to later take part in the job fair above. They have to bring Xerox copies of documents as address proof, and two passport size photographs,” they explained.
About 50 firms from IT, computer, BPO, production, construction, marketing, automobiles, textiles and garments, hospitality, health, security etc., will take part in the fair, to choose candidates they find to be suitable. They said that a total of ten employment exchanges in the state would be converted into Human Resource Development centres before March next. These centres not only provide employment information, but also impart training to the job aspirants, they revealed. Umashankar said that those trained in ITI are more in demand as compared to engineers.
