Mangalore, Nov 8: Concerned that many of the Muslim beneficiaries of Bhagyalaxmi scheme may not be able to attend the programme scheduled to be held on the day of Eid-ul-Ad’ha, November 17 U T Khader, MLA, has opposed Chief Minister Yeddyurappa’s move to hold saree distribution programme in Udupi and Puttur on the same day.
He said it is not fair to hold a government programme during a religious festival, as some beneficiaries belonging to a particular community may not be able to attend the programme. He urged the CM to postpone the programme.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa is scheduled to distribute bonds to 11,987 beneficiaries of Bhagyalaxmi scheme at a function to be held at Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple premises at Puttur on November 17.
