Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 7: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday November 7 reported 11 new infections while Udupi's single-day tally came down to 5 new cases. No death was reported in either of the districts.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 21,37,517 samples have been tested so far, out of which 20,21,945 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,15,572, out of which 157 are currently active.
As many as 33 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,13,726.
The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,689, out of which five are non-Covid deaths. No death was reported on Sunday.
The positivity rate in the district stands at 0.23%.
Even though the cases are declining, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,55,670 as fine in 88,627 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 12,28,511 samples have been tested so far.
A total of five new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 76,753, out of which 42 are currently active.
Four patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 76,235.
Among the 5 new patients, two are in home isolation and three have been admitted to Covid-designated hospital.
Udupi city reported all the five new cases, and all are symptomatic.
Coronavirus has claimed 476 lives in the district so far. No death was reported on Sunday.
So far, 9,20,086 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 5,43,320 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, and all have recovered.
