Bangalore: Armyman Killed in Railway Station

Bangalore, Nov 7 (PTI): An Armyman was killed after he tried to rescue a Railway Protection Force constable who was being attacked by a knife-wielding thief at Bangalore Railway station today, Railway police sources said.

Thirty-one-year-old Navathinder Singh from Punjab rushed to save Ramachandra, who was struggling to ward off the unidentified thief whom he had caught on a platform.

In the process, the thief turned to Singh and attacked him. Singh succumbed to serious injuries.

Ramachandra was rushed to a hospital, they said.

Sources said Singh had come down to Bangalore for training at Army Service Corps (ASC) Centre (South) here. His rank in the Army was not known immediately.

Very sad incident, but I wonder what others did to help them, even a stick would have saved his life. I feel very bad when a small time thief or murderer can confront our brave physically fit martial art trained army men with such ferosity, most probably they didn't see knife in his hand. May his soul rest in peace.
