M'lore: National Cancer Awareness Day Observed at Father Muller Medical College

Mangalore, Nov 7: The national cancer awareness day was observed in Father Muller Medical College Hospital recently.

The nursing service department under the leadership of Sr Aileen organized a seminar on 3 P’s - ‘Prepare, Preserve and Prevent - Cancer' and women’s health checkup to mark the occasion.

The special invitees were the religious sisters. Sr Mariette B S, Provincial Superior of Mangalore province was the chief guest. She highlighted the importance of health and said women are good at two qualities - remembering and forgetting - remembering others' health needs and forgetting their own health. She congratulated the management on organizing such a seminar and health checkup.

 Fr Denis D’Sa the administrator of the Medical College welcomed the gathering. Fr Richard Coelho, the administrator of Father Muller Medical College Hospital presided and appreciated the interest and desire shown by the participants to learn more and know more. The hall was packed and a good number of sisters participated in the programme. Sr Aileen proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr Rohan Gatty, the oncology surgeon gave a very informative talk on cancer of the uterus and Dr Prema from obstetric and gynaecology department spoke on breast cancer. The health checkup was conducted till 5 pm. Many made use of this vital opportunity.
