Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 5: The twin coastal districts on Friday November 5 continued to see a decline in the number of coronavirus cases, with Dakshina Kannada reporting 10 new infections and one death, and Udupi 7 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 21,25,549 samples have been tested so far, out of which 21,01,003 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,15,546, out of which 186 are currently active.
As many as 33 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,13,671.
The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,689, out of which five are non-Covid deaths. One death was reported on Friday.
The positivity rate in the district stands at 0.26%.
Even though the cases are declining, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,53,470 as fine in 88,605 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 12,25,929 samples have been tested so far.
Seven new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 76,738, out of which 37 are currently active.
Three patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday, taking the total number of recoveries to 76,225.
Among the seven new patients, six are in home isolation and one has been admitted to Covid-designated hospital.
Udupi reported 6 of the 7 new cases while Karkala registered one.
Out of the 7, five are asymptomatic.
Coronavirus has claimed 476 lives in the district so far. No death was reported on Friday.
So far, 9,19,453 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 5,32,778 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, and all have recovered.
