Mangaluru, Nov 3: The local administration of Ullal and Someshwar beach has taken stringent action to keep both beaches clean. Officers are recruited to monitor cleanliness.
There are historically famous religious places near both the beaches. While Somanatha temple is there on Someshwar beach, Sayyed Madani Dargah is situated near Ullal beach.
Devotees who visit these religious places also visit the beaches before returning to their native place. These visitors bring food and beverages with them and throw the empty plastic containers on the beach. In addition, the hawkers who sell tea, omelette and ice cream to tourists, also make use of plastic plates. Even plastic water bottles are thrown on the beach.

Now the administration of both beaches have put name boards saying ‘plastic-free zone’ and also have warned the hawkers not to use plastic containers. In addition, personnel are also recruited to keep an eye on the offenders.
