Dubai: Ferarites Celebrate Third Anniversary with ‘Breeze Ball’

Dubai, Nov 5: Ferarites - UAE, a social, cultural, and charity organization of the parishioners of St Francis Xavier Church, Ferar living in the UAE, proudly presented a programme of dine-n-dance with nostalgic songs and scintillating music titled ‘Breeze Ball – 2010’ that was fully loaded with entertainment, to mark the organization’s third annual get-together at Excelsior Creek Hotel, opposite of Bur Juman Center, Burdubai, UAE, on Thursday November 4.
The programme began at 9 pm with an introductory note from Norbert Sequeira. This paved way for the entry of the well-known comperes, Roshan D’Silva and Olinda D’Souza, in their inimitable style that was interspersed with comedy.
The evening was full of live entertainment comprising old and new Mangalorean and Goan Konkani songs, Hindi, Kannada, Tulu and English songs, which were rendered by talented local singers like Dony Correa, Arun Almeida (105.4 Radio Spice), Stany D’Souza, Lancy Noronha. Asha Correa, Thelma D’Souza, Gulf Voice of Mangalore winner, Ivan Fernandes, and Reshma Cutinho, along with Goan singers, Maria Fernandes and Jerry D’Souza, who succeeded in taking the audience down the memory lane. Kaliz Mogar Podla, Manglurkar Va Goenkar, Moga Yo Yo Yo, Laveena, Angelina Moga, Bhangar Thu Muje, Yego Baye Yego Baye, Mogan Ason Borein and several other Konkani songs, in addition to all time hits like Dhak Dhak, Lakho Hain Yahan Dilwale, Noorondu Nenapu, Ajeeb Dasthan Hai Ye, thoroughly enthralled the audience by carrying them to a dream world.
President of the organization, Vincent Pereira, along with Norbert Sequeira, honoured recent winner of Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010 (GOVM II), Ivan Fernades, who was earlier a Ferar parishioner before moving to Mangalore. He thanked Ferarites for supporting him during the event.
The stage event officially started with the cutting of the third anniversary cake by Ferarites president and committee members.
During the brief stage programme, president, Vincent Pereira welcomed the gathering and explained to them the success story of the association, which has reached the present eminent position after a modest beginning. He thanked generous sponsors, benefactors and well-wishers for their whole-hearted support, which has enabled the organisation to fulfil its main goal of ‘reaching out and touching the lives of the poor’.
James Mendonca, a notable personality from UAE, was honoured by Ferarites, in tune with its tradition of honouring outstanding personalities from the UAE. Michael D’Souza, Herman Lewis, and Walter Nandalike, participated as guests of honour. Michael D’Souza draped a shawl around Mendonca, Walter presented fruits, while Herman presented a memento, and felicitated Mendonca.
A rib-tickling comedy was performed by Steven Machado, famously known as the comedy king of Kuwait, along with local comedians, Santosh D’Souza, Suneetha Menezes, and Clevin D’souza(Putta).
Bollywood style dance performances were rendered by Sara and Ismail, and a dance group named ‘Smile Professional Dance Troupe’. James and group performed live music, keeping the audience on their toes with their riveting music though the night till the wee hours of the morning with waltz, fox trot, jives and Baila dances.
Gang show, Queen of the Night, and best dancing couple contest were the attractions of the evening. Spot prizes, gift hampers and dinner vouchers from various restaurants were also given away to the winners. LCD TV, mobile phone and several electronic items were included in the impressive list of lucky-dip items.
The stupendous five-star lunch was also the highlight of the event. Delightful music, comedy, dance and fun indeed provided the audience with a programme worth their money.
A total of 63 artistes performed at the stage through different programmes. The event was a great hit, and this time too, Ferarites attempted to introduce to the audience a pool of renowned local talents picked from across the UAE.
