Mangalore, Nov 2: The police personnel of Bajpe station have succeeded in arresting four accused, relating to a robbery that occurred at Kolambe village near Bajpe on October 2 this year. The arrested men are Azaruddin from Adyapady, Jameer from Udupi Nadsal, Habib from Krishnapur and Abdul Rashid from Hejmady.
The policemen have also recovered Rs 1.18 lac in cash and two mobile sets that were robbed by the arrested men. The valuables were taken into possession from the accused, along with the car in which they were travelling, from near the railway station here on Monday November 1.
Abdul Razak, a resident of Permude village, had been returning home after working in a bidi unit in Adyapady on October 2. He had with him Rs 1.18 lac in cash, which had been put together for conducting the marriage of his sister. When he reached Kolambe, a four-member gang, which came in a car, intercepted him, and snatched away cash and two mobile sets from his possession.
On a complaint lodged by Razak with them, the Bajpe policemen formed a team to find out the culprits. The team led by assistant commissioner of police, Puttamadaiah, circle inspector of police, Valentine D’Souza, and Bajpe police sub-inspector, Vinayak, took part in the operation.
