Mangalore, Nov 1: Krishna J Palemar, district-in-charge minister has said that plastics will soon be banned from the premises of temples and other religious places, according to a circular issued by the state ministry of environment and ecology.
Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava celebrated at Nehru Maidan on Monday Novermber 1, Palemar said that the ban will be strictly enforced within week's time, and violators may face upto seven years of imprisonment or a fine of Rs 1 lac.
The punishment is in tune with the Environment Protection Act, he informed.
