Kasargod, Oct 25: Well-known artiste, singer and vocal trainer Anita D’Souza was conferred with the 4th Achievers’ Award instituted by Emirates Konkans Kasargod, at a ceremony held at Prakruthi, Bela on Sunday October 24.
Fr Stanly Pereira, vicar forane, Kasargod Catholic deanery and parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Bela presided over the programme. Addressing the gathering, he said, “It is very easy to form associations over some particular agendas. But it is very tough to be associated with one association for a long time. But Emirates Konkans, a native association of Konkani speaking community from Kasargod residing in various parts of the UAE, have successfully stayed united from the past ten years. I am happy to know that the association is responding to the needs of the deanery."
He congratulated Anitha who he termed as the ‘Pride of Konkani community’ in Kasargod region.
Wilfred Manohar Crasta, president, Catholic Sabha, Kasargod denary who attended the event as the chief guest said, “Artistes need to be humble and down to earth. Anitha has this quality in her and that is why she is successful today."
Anitha was presented a shawl, memento, bouquet and a cash prize of Rs 20,000. Acknowledging the honour, Anitha thanked her family, especially her mother and husband and all her well-wishers.
Founder president of Emirates Konkans Kasargod Santosh Perla welcomed the gathering. M S Thomas, former additional public prosecutor, Br Joseph Crasta, founder, Snehalaya, and Delwin, president, ICYM Kasargod deanary were present on dais.

Emirates Konkans Kasargod is an association of members of parishes belonging to Kasargod region residing in the UAE. Wilson Kayyar, Br Joseph Crasta and Vinola D’Souza have earlier received the Emirates Konkans Achievers’ Award.
