Mangalore, Nov 1: The last batch of 207 pilgrims left for the holy Haj pilgrimage from the local airport on Sunday October 31 evening. With this, a total of 867 pilgrims have left for the pilgrimage from the local airport in four batches.
President of the local Haj Management Committee, Y Muhammed Kunhi, State Haj Committee members, Salim Ambagilu and Husain Sakhafi, Dakshina Kannada district Wakf Advisory Committee district president, Usman Haji, member, Rahim Uchchil, and several others were present to see off the last batch of pilgrims.
Last year, a total of 550 persons from the twin districts as well as Uttara Kannada and Kodagu districts had undertaken this pilgrimage. This year, 880 persons had secured permission for the pilgrimage, but 13 could not make it because of various reasons. Salim Ambagilu said that these people will be sent on pilgrimage through Bangalore airport.
