Mangaluru, Oct 21: Even though the district is witnessing a good trend as far as lowering of covid19 cases is concerned, it is a concerning development that there has been no major change in the number of people getting vaccine shots particularly the first dose.

The people have not been forthcoming to get first dose of the vaccine. However, there is a gradual increase in those who are willing to get the second dose. The health department is now planning to create awareness about the importance of getting first dose and thereby increase the number of vaccinations.

The health department has already vaccinated 88 percent of the population and the officials say they are unable to vaccinate the others. The health department, which was concentrating more on regulating Covid cases, is now paying more attention to vaccinate people. Senior officials are coordinating with health department staff to convince people in rural and urban areas to get vaccinated. A senior health department official revealed that officials are moving around villages in teams to achieve progress in vaccinating people against coronavirus.

As per the department’s statistics, till October 16, 22,69,582 persons have got the anti Covid vaccinations. As many as 15,02,088 got the first dose and 7,67,494 got the second dose. Dakshina Kannada district health officer, Dr Kishore Kumar M, says that because of the reduction of Covid cases and as there is no fear about the third wave immediately, people are not showing interest to get vaccinated. He said that the department staff are inspiring people to get the vaccinations but as of now, even a thousand doses of the vaccine are not exhausted in a week. At the same time, he said, about 9,000 doses of the second dose are used every week.

    Most of the population is taking vaccination only for 'official use' . If we observe the reports of Kerala, more than 75% cases reported daily have taken both vaccines.

    Two doses of traditional vaccine (Covaxin) no deaths that I have read about .With Covishield and other vaccines deaths have been reported due to Covid after vaccination as I have mentioned in my previous comments. Also a positive rtPCR test does not mean infection , it only indicates colonization.

    Let me clarify that I am "pro" traditional vaccines and my family is fully vaccinated.At the same time I feel that this is too late to discuss about getting vaccinated or not .In India by now most people would already have antibodies due to exposure or due to vaccination. Those in doubt can get a serology test done e.g ELISA or CLIA , for Covid antibodies,if a person had adequate antibodies , no vaccination is required ( except in certain conditions).Apart from this in our country (most of us do not live in sterile 5 star environment), we also have cross immunity from similar viruses. As I have mentioned earlier also Corona has ancestors ( it is not Najayaz), so there is no cause of worry . Those who have comorbidities or are in direct touch with patients, may already have been vaccinated. The epidemic is over few sporadic cases may occur, now time to say "Bye Bye Corona" (not aavjo-which means come again).

    I feel Mangloreans are more conscious than the rest of their counterparts who blindly follow the dictatorship. If the dictator's pic wasn't been put up on the vaccine certificate then people would oblige getting the vaccine. Secondly India's quality of goods apart from Vaccines are highly circumspect. Who would want to compromise on their health by getting a jab of "vaccines" which are merely placebos.

    People, irrespective of caste and creed ,donot underestimate the deadly COVID . i know families who have taken 2 doses have turned out positive but they had minor symptoms and survived . Vaccinations doesnot claim 100% relief ,but reduces the death rate . If you go by the statistics, people who are dying are with some serious ailments and have not taken the doses . Blind hatred towards the government or religion can wait , but now for your survival get vaccinated if not for you atleast for your families sake.

    Your comment is based on fake propaganda by vaccine industries and their stooges. Real data shows 86% of patients in ICU are fully jabbed and death rates too are high among them in most jabbed countries like UK and Israel but fake media and corrupt govts are lying to people and blaming unvaccinated people for the failed jabs. It's been noted vacs are reducing immunity every week and I had warned it might cause AIDS patients like immune compromised due to ADE which only works against one type of virus and useless against mutating viruses like corona. Just wait 3 more months and that will be termed as 3rd wave instead of vaccine induced pandemic. Until trials are over never take the risks as unvaccinated can take the jabs but if anything goes wrong nobody can reverse the vaccine injuries among double or triple jabbed.

    I think the 90 days wait time post covid recovery and 84 days between two doses is causing hinderance in the vaccination process. Reduce 90 days to 30 days post covid recovery and reduce gap between two doses to 6 weeks, suddenly there will be a surge in number of people taking vaccines.

    The death of former US secretary of state Colin Powell at the age of 84 inspite of taking both doses of Covid vaccine is a perfect example that vaccine does not do anything to enhance the immunity of a person...moreover, the phrama companies are now pushing for booster doses..ultimately people will be taking vaccines all through their life...that is the masterplan...in third world country like India there is no resistance from public also as most the people are unguta chaps like the premier.....those educated are fooling the uneducated...

    First of all you cannot force people to take vaccines. As vaccines are still in trials there is no full fledged proof that you won't get infected. People with chronic illness, autoimmune disorder cannot be forced to take the vaccine. It's an individual's decision. As long as they are maintaining social distancing and their immunity is strong there is nothing to worry about. Just create awareness about educating the masses on having a healthy diet and increasing their immunity that is what matters than anything else. Let the people decide if they want or not,it's their personal choice.
