Mangaluru, Oct 20: Assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Panambur police station, Mangaluru North S Mahesh Kumar inaugurated the day-long Dr M R Shetty Cup- Physio Premier league -2021 cricket tournament, presented by M R Shetty College of Physiotherapy, on Wednesday October 20 at NMPT ground, Panambur.
Addressing the students, the ACP said, “Sports and sports events always helps us build sportsman spirit within ourselves. A person who shows sportsmanship always wins the hearts in the society. Secondly, sports always keeps us healthy and fit. I congratulate the management and the students from various colleges who have gathered here. It is the sign of closeness and unity. Cricket tournament is the reason behind it."
Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld media group, was the chief guest. In his speech, he said, “When I was suffering by Covid-19, I was admitted to a private hospital. After tough days, I recovered from the virus attack, but my doctor suggested to me take help of a physiotherapist. Within three day, the physiotherapist made me normal and I could attend my office work without any difficulties. So I can openly say to you, as a student of physiotherapy you people selected the right profession and exhibit great skill.
“I am a big fan of cricket. In my school and college days, I played a lot of cricket. Hence, I am happy to be part of this tournament. Consider this a day for relaxing and with a sportsman spirit, enjoy the day,” he said.
In his presidential address, Dr Ranjith Shetty, trustee, Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust said, “We are glad to have students from various colleges in one venue. Apart from sports, it will help them to know each other and share their ideas. Educational institutions should not limit only to education. It should act with unity in society and build a healthy community. M R Shetty College always conducts programmes like this. I wish the best to all the participants."
Prof L Gladson Jose, principal welcomed the dignitaries and gathering. Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, convener, Physio Premier League – 2021, rendered the vote of thanks. Prof Vaishali, co-ordinator, Physio Premier League - 2021, and Jayaprasad M, physical director were present.
