Mysuru, Oct 16: Nagaraj, working as professor in the government college here stands arrested. He has been accused of defrauding a woman by collecting six lac rupees from her in exchange for a fake offer letter in the letterhead of the education department with the fake signature of the chief secretary of the education department. The woman reportedly was promised employment in Maharani College here.
He is said to have promised Pallavi (26) from the city to secure her the job of first division assistant in Maharani College here. The lady currently works as a typist in a DTP centre. The police said that the man had affixed the fake signature of the chief secretary in the education department letterhead.
Nagaraj had visited the DTP centre here where Pallavi is employed, to get a letter typed. He got acquainted with her after which she requested him to inform her if there are any job opportunities. He collected six lac rupees from her with the promise of getting her government job, and gave her the fake offer letter. The fraud came to light when the lady visited M S building where government offices are located to get the document verified.
