Udupi: Seminar on Customers’ Empowerment, Rights Held in Town

Udupi, Oct 27: ‘The majority of customers are being cheated by the business establishments, mainly due to lack of information about their rights, hence the need to educate the majority of customers', said zilla panchayat chief executive officer N Rajashekar.

Rajashekar was speaking during the inauguration of seminar on Empowering customers and their rights, held at Devadiga auditorium, Chitpady, here on Tuesday October 26. The awareness about the existing rights of customers can curb the cheating by the business enterprises, added Rajashekar.

Customers’ Forum – Udupi convenor K Damodar Aithal and trustee H Shantaraj Aithal in their talk on Customers’ empowerment and rights urged the people to check the quality of product before actually buying the product in the market.
 
The programme was jointly organized by the district Information and broadcasting department, Customers’ Forum, NCC camp and Rotary Club of Ambalapady. 

NCC officer Lt Commander Dr K Narayan Poojary presided. Ambalapady Rotary Club secretary Prakash Shetty was also present.

The district Information and broadcasting officer M Junjanna welcomed the gathering. NCC officer M R Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. Subbanna Koni of NCC compered.
