Bengaluru, Oct 13: All the basic requirements to begin the construction work of Rani Chennamma University (RCU) at Hirebagewadi have been completed and construction work will be speeded up in the next phase, Dr C N Ashwatha Naryana, Minister for Higher Education, said in Belagavi on Wednesday.
Responding to a query in the press conference after participating in a workshop on National Education Policy (NEP-2020) at KLE College, he said the tender process, administrative approval with regard to the construction of University (RCU) have been completed.
As much as 750 acres of government land in the city is in the position of the department of defense and efforts are being made to get back this. The State Government wants to set up a software park in the location.
In addition, the old software technology park will also be developed, the Minister explained.
“In the post-COVID situation, those who have digital skills have been in greater demand by global companies and are availing services directly from them. Now, one who has digital talent has himself become an organization and home itself has turned into an office. Even a person from a tiny village can work from his home itself if he/she has the required skills. By realizing this, the government has initiated KDEM (Karnataka Digital Economy Mission) and ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ programme,” Dr Narayana explained.
When asked about critical remarks on NEP by opposition leaders, he said NEP is rooted in Indianness aspires to build a strong India by empowering the students.
University Vice Chancellor Prof Ramachandregowda, Government Chief Whip in the Council Mahatesh Kavatagimath and MLCs Hanumanth Nirani, Arun Shahapur and others attended the workshop.
Dr Narayan warmly praised former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and described him as the ‘’disciplined solider’’ of the party. Yediyurappa will be joining the campaign in the by-elections to the Sindgi and Hanagal assembly constituencies.
In response to a question on party leader Ramesh Jarakiholi, who had to resign as a minister in the Yediyurappa ministry, Dr Narayan said the problems will be solved soon and he will be reinducted in the ministry soon. He also claimed that the party has great respect for Ramesh Jarakiholi.
