Mangaluru, Oct 8: The case in which 38 Sri Lankans illegally staying in the city were found, happens to be an international racket of human trafficking. National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials, in the charge sheet filed in the special court in Bengaluru, confirmed this fact. The charge sheet also mentions that six persons from Tamil Nadu are involved with this racket.
Those who were involved with this racket are Dinakaran, Kasi Vishwanathan, Rasool, Saddam Hussain, Abdul Muheet and Socrates.
The accused have accommodated Sri Lankan citizens at various places in India for the purpose of human trafficking to Canada and other countries.
38 Sri Lankan citizens, who were housed in lodges in the city, had been arrested in June this year. NIA officials had arrived here to investigate the case. It is said that the accused had earned the confidence of the families of the job seekers by promising jobs for their members and had collected between Rs 3.5 lac and ten lac rupees, NIA found during the investigation.
