Udupi, Oct 7: “Our district has become the second district to achieve 100% first dose vaccination for 18 years and above, in the state after Bengaluru urban. As many as 9,08,617 people have taken the first dose. Various organizations, independent bodies, along with the health workers of district have contributed in making this happen," said Kurma Rao, deputy commissioner (DC).
Addressing the media he said, "The government had given a us a target of 9,01,568 people to be vaccinated. But we have crossed the target. A total of 4,38,324 people have been given the second dose of vaccine. We are organizing mega vaccination drive every week. The second dose is also important. The vaccination process is being conducted in a very good way in the district. Testing teams are working efficiently.
We are witnessing low positivity rate from the last 7 days. For the last 7 days, our positivity rate is around 0.9%. The district is hoping to bring this number down. I request the public to get tested immediately if anyone is found to be showing Covid symptoms," he said.
FRUITS registration drive in Udupi district
"Special registration drive for Farmers registration in unified beneficiary system (FRUITS) will be held in the district from October 7 to 10,” said DC Kurma Rao.
Speaking about FRUITS Project, the DC said, “It is the ambition of the government to bring farmers details under a single unified identification number. After the Covid outbreak, the registration process was delayed. In Udupi 9,12,936 plots are been identified for registration. We have completed around 3 lac registrations. This identification will be helpful for providing necessary data about the farmers and the required information about crops. Special drive will be conducted for registration of farmers. Village accountants, and panchayat members and associated bodies will take part in this drive. This identification will attach Aadhaar numbers with the farmers land with additional details like crops, available farming land and other necessary details.”
