Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 6: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, October 6 reported 43 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 17 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 19,17,230 samples have been tested so far, out of which 18,02,523 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,707 out of which 744 are currently active.
As many as 83 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,668.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,01,170 as fine in 88,084 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,50,813 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 17 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 76,420 out of which 77 are currently active.
A total of 23 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
Out of 17 new patients, 16 are in home isolation while 1 is in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 17 cases, 10 cases are symptomatic and 7 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 6 new cases, Kundapur registered 3 and Karkala 8.
Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 9,00,776 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,18,128 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
