Kundapur, Oct 2: The policemen here have succeeded in arresting two persons, one of whom is a woman, relating to the abduction of a mobile phone shop owner and robbing him of Rs 4.64 lac.
Mukhtar Koteshwar near here happens to be the main accused in the case. The lady who has been arrested along with him is Priyanka Sahni, a beauty parlour owner from Delhi. She is 25. The police said that three more persons had taken part in this crime, and that they are making all out efforts to nab them.
Mustafa
Mustafa, who runs a mobile phone shop, 'Mobile X' near the old bus stand here had been kidnapped by miscreants on September 17. He had been robbed of Rs 4,64,175, other assets worth about a lac of rupees and documents before he was released. Mustafa, who returned to his native place, had filed a police complaint.
The police, who took over the investigation in all earnestness, went to Bengaluru based on location. By then the accused had fled to Delhi. The police went to Delhi by flight but by then the accused were moving towards Ahmedabad. The police then chased them in an Ertiga car but by then the accused had covered a thousand km distance. After reaching Ahmedabad, the policemen checked the location again and found that the culprits were in a room in a hotel there. Kundapur police sub-inspector Sadashiva Gowroji, Kollur sub-inspector Nasir Hussain and other police personnel raided the room and recovered most of the lost items.
Both the accused were brought to Bengaluru by flight on Thursday night. They were produced before the judge on Friday evening. They were remanded to judicial custody for two days. On Monday they have to be produced in court again. In all likelihood, the police may seek their police custody.
