Cultural Fest, Students' Council Inaugurated at Father Muller Medical College

Mangalore, Oct 16: The students’ council of Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) for the year 2010-11 and the week-long inter-batch FMMC cultural fest 'Solaris' were inaugurated at the college's Academy Hall here on Saturday October 16.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest of the programme Alok Mohan, IGP of Western Range, said that student councils plays constructive roles by way of new assignments given to the officer-bearers and added that the oath taking ceremony teaches one to set realistic goals in life.
He also stressed on the importance of communication skills among the leaders and said that leadership qualities are to be imbibed in one's personality and it is not enough if they are just read in books.
He also said that medical students who are going to be the future doctors must not get annoyed by the opinions of others. He called upon the students to respect the other people's opinions and show tolerance.
Dr B Sanjeev Rai, chief of medical services, handed over the appreciation letters to the office-bearers of 2009-10 for rendering their services.
Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI in his presidential address said that the new office-bearers should give first priority to god, second to others and third to self in order to achieve the motto of the students' council.
Roshan Iqbal (president), Betsy Ann Thomas (vice-president), Sweta Shanbaug (secretary) and Janet Jason Varghese (joint secretary) andother members of the council took oath on the occasion.
Among those present were Dr J P Alva, dean, FMMC, Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator, FMMC, Dr Meghana Mukund, cultural staff advisor and students.
