Mumbai, Sep 20: Veteran journalist, author, story writer and former assistant editor of Karnataka Malla daily newspaper Sripathi Champa (76) passed away after a brief illness in his residence at Sankeshwar Palms, Shivaji Nagar, Dombivli west on Saturday, September 18.
He hailed from Padukere, Hejmady, Udupi and belonged to the Champa clan. He had become popular for his collection of stories titled ‘Pagara’ explaining the unique life in the coastal region. He was the co-director of Tulu film ‘Udal Da Tudar’.
He has left behind his wife, a son, a daughter, friends and relatives. “We have lost a conscious journalist and a senior member of Patrakartara Sangha by his demise,” said Rons Bantwal, president of Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha. Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha Maharashtra office bearers and members have condoled his death.
