The need of the hour is to reach his literary works to a wide section of readers”, said K Satyanarayan, renowned story writer, critic, and Income Tax commissioner.
He was speaking during the conferring of ‘Guru Narayan Literary Award–2010’ and release of ‘Sanjivana’, a Kannada book authored by Dr Joshi, at Billava Bhavan, Santacruz (East), recently.
‘Akshaya’ bulletin honorary chief editor M B Kukyan released the book and conferred the award on Karnataka Sangh president, educationist and renowned litterateur Dr G D Joshi.
Billavar Association president Jaya C Suvarna presided over the programme. A special edition of ‘Akshaya’ was also released on the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, Jaya Suvarna said that Billavar Association has done a great service by promoting brotherhood in society through its genuine concern for social upliftment.
Kukyan said that Akshaya had adhered to its ethics despitethe recent changes in media.
Dr Joshi, acknowledging the honour, said that he had accomplished very little and expressed his desire to further improve his literary expertise.
Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Limited chairman Vasudev R Kotian, Billavar Association honorary president Y Nagesh, vic--presidents L V Amin and C T Salian, women’s wing executive president Jayanti V Ullal and others were present on the dais.
Honorary chief secretary Jyothi K Suvarna welcomed the gathering. Women’s wing honorary chief secretary Laxmi N Kotian compered the cultural programmes.
