Kundapur, Oct 9: A report that has come within a gap of three days of a similar incident in which a constable was killed and another seriously injured, after a van carrying cattle illegally hit their vehicle, on Friday, a Maruti Omni vehicle loaded with beef hit and injured a police sub-inspector of Bhatkal town police station.
Manjunath Gowda, sub-inspector of Bhatkal town police station, acting on a tip off that a vehicle carrying beef was on its way from Kumta to Bhatkal, tried to stop the vehicle at Shirali town near Bhatkal. The Omni however, drove on, without stopping, even after hitting Gowda. The sub-inspector, who suffered severe injuries to his left hand, was admitted into a hospital.
The other policemen chased the vehicle and succeeded in confiscating the van and arresting its two inmates. Search is now on to nab four others, who succeeded in escaping.
