Bangalore, Oct 8 (DHNS): Legislator H S Shankaralingegowda collapsed and was rushed to a hospital when an argument with his son Nandeesh Preetham over withdrawing support to the BJP government turned sour at his chamber in the Legislators' Home (LH) here on Thursday evening.
While Gowda remained firm on pulling out of the government, Preetham strongly disagreed with him. When a spell of allegations and counter allegations didn't yield anything, Preetham reportedly threatened to commit suicide by consuming poison if Gowda didn't change his decision.
Shocked by the development, Gowda suddenly collapsed and he was administered medical aid at the LH. Moments later, a group of JD(S) activists led by former minister H D Revanna barged into the place and ‘enquired’ about Gowda's health.
Alleging that Gowda 'feared' for his life if he withdrew support to the Government, Revanna sought 'adequate' protection for the legislator.
Stating that the legislator shouldn't be 'coaxed' into changing his mind and he should stand by his decision, the JD(S) leader said that the mater should only be left to him. Besides, he should be given 'adequate' protection, Revanna demanded. Joining the debate, Minister for Power Shobha Karandlaje accused the JD(S) of attempting to 'kidnap' the legislator. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa who visited the place sounded doubtful about the intention of JD(S) leaders' visit. "When Gowda's daughter is looking after him, why did Revanna, Bandeppa Kashempur, Y S V Datta, and others went to enquire about his health."
