Mangaluru, Sep 7: After the district administration issued an alert order and asked the public to remain cautious over Nipah virus, a testing center has been set up at Talapady on the Karnataka-Kerala border.
Now the health department, while testing coronavirus positive cases, are also testing symptoms of Nipah virus. As bats carry these viruses, the administration is concerned about the fruits transported from Kerala. It is specially focusing on Rambutan and Dragon fruit.
The health department officials have started thermal scanning to trace cases for Nipah virus.
“We will send back those with symptoms of Nipah virus. Though they have Covid-19 negative reports and if their body temperature is high, they will be sent back,” informed ACP Ranjith Bandaru.
