Bengaluru, Sep 3: Annoyed at the incidents of police getting into arguments and fights with the public in the city, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra has directed the city traffic police to strictly follow the rules governing ‘towing’ of vehicles parked in the ‘no parking’ areas and ‘give no room’ for any complaints of harassment from the public.
The minister held a meeting with the City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant and Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Ravikanthe Gowda and discussed the incidents following complaints from the public.
The Home Minister instructed the police top brass to ensure that the City Traffic must ensure that vehicle owners must be alerted by blowing sirens and collect only the prescribed fine amounts for parking vehicles in no-parking areas issuing proper receipts if the vehicle owner was present at the spot while the vehicles were lifted.
The vehicle towing staff and traffic police should not engage in any arguments with the public while performing their duties and deal with the members of the public in a courteous manner, the Home Minister said specifically asking the police to ensure that proper care should be taken while towing the vehicle so as not to cause any damage to the vehicles.
