Mumbai, Oct 5: The Thiya Samaj organized ‘Thiya Samskratik Nratya Vaibhav’, a cultural extravaganza, to mark their 66th annual day celebrations held at Karnataka Sangh-Dr M Vishveshvarayya auditorium, Matunga (West), here on Sunday October 3.
Thiya Samaj president Chandrashekar Belchada presided over the programme.
The members of the Samaj, its women’s wing, and children staged various music and dance programmes as part of the event.
Yakshagana play ‘Mahishasura Mardini’ was staged by the members of the Thiya Samaj under the direction of veteran Yakshagana Bhagavat Sahadev Salian.
Mumbai Kulala Sangh president P K Salian, and Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (NGO) founder and former president Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty were the chief guests at the simple stage programme held during the interval.
P K Salian, in his presidential address, said that unity among the wide section of the community will lead to national progress. “The association of various communities will promote equality in the society”, he said.
Jayakrishna Shetty said that humanity should take priority when helping brethren in society regardless of caste, creed, or religion.
Thiya Samaj honorary secretary Praveen Shanker B M, vice-president Vishwanath U K, honorary chief secretary Babu, honorary treasurer Ramesh N Ullal, ‘Thiya Jyothi’ monthly bulletin honorary editor Sridar S Suvarna, western zone regional committee former president Sudhakar Ucchil, east zone regional committee president Ravindra S Manjeshwar, western zone regional committee new president Narayan Suvarna, western zone women wing president Chandra Suvarna, east zone women wing president Vranda Dinesh, and youth wing president Rajesh Suvarna were present on the dais.
Former president K P Arvind, joint secretary K Prabhakar, joint treasurer Suresh D Bangera, youth wing honorary secretary Amrut S Ucchil, joint secretary Bhavya Bangera, Mohan B M, and joint treasurer Ravindra Suvarna were present on the occasion.
The programme began with a prayer song by the women members. ‘Thiya Jyothi’ assistant editor Babu Belchada compered the programme while Sridar Suvarna proposed the vote of thanks.
