Mumbai, Oct 4: “The residents of Nandikoor area in Udupi district of Karnataka are facing injustice due to setting up a thermal power plant by Nagarjuna called the Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL). The responsibility lies with the local representatives to address their grievances. It’s in undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) district and politicians in the guise of vote bank politics have discouraged mega industries from setting up their bases, It is Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (JSKPPS), a NGO with a farsighted approach, which supported the mega industries in setting up their bases in undivided DK, as the move would create much needed jobs for local youth who otherwise migrate to other metros in search of better opportunities”, said JSKPPS founder and former president Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty.
He was speaking at the organization’s fifth annual general body meeting held at Hotel Ramakrishna banquet hall, Ville Parle (East), on Saturday October 2.
“JSKPPS will open its own office in Mulky in Mangalore taluk shortly, to work effectively towards addressing the grievances of people”, announced Tonse Jayasrikrishna.
JSKPPS vice-presidents Dharmapal U Devadiga, honorary chief secretary Nithyanand D Kotian, and honorary treasurer chartered accountant I R Shetty were present on the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, JSKPPS past president Vishwanath U Mada said that unity within the organization can contribute towards realizing the set objective of industrializing undivided DK which will bring prosperity to the local population.
JSKPPS vice-president P K Salian, honorary secretaries Rons Bantwal, P Dhananjay Shetty and G T Acharya, lawyer Shashidar Kaup, Jaya K Shetty of Seva Bharati, entrepreneur John D’Souza, labour union leader B R Shetty, JAVAB former president Raghu L Shetty, Karnataka Vishwakarma Association Mumbai president Nitte Damodar Acharya, and Kolachurguttu Jagdish Shetty were also present on the occasion.
Dharmapal U Devadiga welcomed the gathering. Nithyanand D Kotian delivered the introductory address and presented the annual report. G T Acharya compered the programme.
