Udupi, Sep 29: T A Pai Management Institute, a leading B-School celebrated Joy of giving in the Manipal campus here.
The children from Balaniketan, an orphanage in town were brought to the campus and taught dancing, singing and painting by the students. Joy fest celebrated upheld the spirit of ‘giving’.
Prof Vrishali, faculty TAPMI said, “Challenges are many and the impediments are far too many. Yet by joining hands with one another, by networking with the NGOs, by continually looking for a better tomorrow, the students of TAPMI have contributed in their own way to the society through the ‘joy of giving.
Shwetha, a member of Social Endeavour Group (SEG) TAPMI, a management institution believes that the youth of India should take the initiative to sensitize people on the issues and problems faced by the underprivileged. SEG of TAPMI strives to achieve the objective through various activities such as this one. The competitions in the fields of dance, music and artfields will be held on Saturday October 2 and prizes will be distributed for the best performance. Fund donation boxes will be made available at five collection centres in Manipal. Students of various colleges and residents of the town can contribute by donating at these collection centres. The total amount collected will be donated to the orphanage, she said.
“We team SEG at TAPMI believe that "small steps of man will lead to a giant leap of mankind. We kindle the splinter and it bursts into a flame providing light all around. It is an enriching experience to have the kids here in TAPMI and by their presence the campus took on a new colour. We experienced real life” she said .
Priya, another member said, "Blessed is the match that kindles the fire, I think the SEG of TAPMI has kindled the hope for the lesser privileged. An unforgettable experience for all of us, which we will cherish through and through” she added.
The fund collection boxes have been kept at Shenoy Stores, KMC, Student Point, End Point Road, Paratha Point, Eswar Nagar (Near Ashlesh Hotel), Manipal Stores and Tiger Circle.
The valedictory function of the activity will take place on October 2 in the MIT Library Auditorium at 4.00 pm.
