Mangaluru, Aug 20: The machinery of the oxygen unit at Ullal, which was donated by actor Sonu Sood through his foundation, was received at Ullal community health centre on Thursday August 19.
Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Dr K V Rajendra, said that the first project donated by Sonu Sood Foundation to the district will benefit the people very much. He said that the unit will be able to produce 30 to 40 cylinders of oxygen every day and therefore people from Ullal and nearby areas will not be required to bring oxygen from elsewhere when needed.
He stated that the unit is being installed by sharing the cost by the said foundation and the district administration at the ratio of 75:25. "Sonu Sood Foundation has spent Rs 46 lac and the district administration contributed Rs 12.88 lac. This is the initial project the foundation has given to the district. The foundation has done something that is divine as it saves lives. Till now, oxygen needs here had to be met by bringing cylinders from outside but henceforth oxygen will be available here. The health department will install the unit on behalf of the district administration," he said. On behalf of the district administration, he thanked Sonu Sood.
Sonu Sood Foundation member Sriprasad, Ullal municipal president Chitra Chandrakant, vice president Ayub Manchila, municipal commissioner Rayappa, health officer Ravikrishna, Ullal community health centre administrative medical officer Dr Vidya Sagar and others were present.
