Udupi, Aug 20: "The Congress has been a part of the opposition with the only aim of opposing the BJP tooth and nail. Many issues of paramount importance had been tabled in the Lok Sabha for discussions. The Congress expressed its strong opposition to the implementation of various reforms and acts brought about by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. When the country was attacked in the past, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had extended unequivocal support to Indira Gandhi. On the contrary, when China showed aggression and forayed near the Indian Territory, Rahul Gandhi found it proper to make fun and pass wry comments. The Congress has now turned into an anti-national party instead of confining itself to being a party guided by patriotism. Right from Prime Minister Nehru to Manmohan Singh, barring Lal Bahadur Shastri, everyone was corrupt. But BJP does not face any charges of corruption so far. Modi dreams of corruption-free India. We have got the opportunity to preside over the security council of the United Nations Organization. The world has identified India's importance," said state BJP president and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was addressing the Jan Ashirwad Yatra and felicitation programme for the newly inducted union minister, Shobha Karandlaje, at the town hall, Ajjarkad on Thursday August 19.
Nalin said that India has been financially recouping itself and coming out stronger, in spite of problems created by Covid19. He also said that the government has been ensuring that the benefits of government programmes reach the common people.
Nalin said that BJP is the only party, leaders of which visit the residences of people to express gratitude. "This is a programme aimed at expressing our indebtedness to the people and to take Prime Minister's programmes to the people. We also plan to pool public opinion and utilise the resultant outcome to bring creativity in the government. We have seen processions being organized by other parties when their leaders go to jail or return from there. But the BJP has undertaken this Yatra to get blessings of the people by visiting their doorsteps," he stated.
"The Congress, which garnered votes by flashing Ambedkar's photo or by using his name, never cared to provide social justice. The government headed by Modi gets credit for having the highest number of SC/ST candidates, women and highest young ministers. In tune with its manifesto, BJP removed article 370 and thereby paved the way for the Indian flag to flutter in every village in Kashmir on Independence Day," he said.
Addressing the gathering, Shobha said that the things achieved by Modi and his name will remain etched in the memories of the people even after he demits power. She said that Modi just has a couple of clothes and a suitcase. She expressed happiness at being associated with a Prime Minister who always dreams of developing India. She said that because of Modi, India and Indians have earned respect and recognition. She said that Rs 1,57,000 crore under the Kissan Samman scheme has been directly credited to the accounts of 21 crore farmers. She pledged to honestly make efforts to work to meet the expectations of the people as a union minister and ensure that Modi's government does not get a blemish by doing everything transparently.
Earlier, Shobha Karandlaje also had lunch with government scheme beneficiaries.
On this occasion, Shobha Karandlaje was felicitated on behalf of the BJP and its workers, on her elevation as a union minister.
MLA Raghupati Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty, MLC Tulasi Muniraju, BJP backward classes morcha national general secretary Yashpal Suvarna, BJP district president Kuilady Suresh Nayak, Coastal Development Authority chairman Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, members of the state executive and party leaders were present.
