Bengaluru, Aug 19: Leaders of Tuluver Kudla organisation submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai demanding official State language status for the language.
The Chief Minister released the logo of Tuluver Kudla when the delegation led by Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath and Mulki-Moodbidre MLA Umanath Kotian along with Tuluver Kudla president Pratik U Poojary and other leaders at the Chief Minister’s office in Vidhana Soudha on Thursday.
The delegation presented the book, “Tulu Kelinja Bharata’’ to the Chief Minister.
Tuluver Kudla Secretary Pratik Rao, Organising Convenor Roshan Reynod, Co-convenor Kushit Varun Acharya and Treasurer Charit Poojary were part of the delegation.
People should love their mother-tongue
The Chief Minister, who attended a function organized by the Kannada and Culture Department at Ravindra Kalakshetra, urged people to love and cherish their mother-tongues and said the communities that understand the importance of their mother-tongue will prosper.
The Kannada and Culture Department had organized the presentation of the State Awards for the year 2019-20 and conferring of the Basava National Award.
Bommai asked the Kannada and Culture Department to espouse the spirit of human values and felt social consciousness, humanitarian values, civic responsibilities were very important in a civilized society than mere possession of goods. “We need to have a proper understanding of culture and strive to become good citizens,’’ he said.
The Chief Minister lauded to contribution of the Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala D Veerendra Heggade in the field of rural development and upliftment of the rural poor. Similarly, Basalinga Pattadevaru of Bhalki in Bidar has followed the teachings of Basavanna and has huge following from Bidar to Kollegal. There are many other people who have been rendering yeomen service to society without getting any recognition and such people must be honoured, the Chief Minister said.
Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar and Kannada and Culture Department Director Rangappa attended the function.
