Mangaluru: Indian Idol finalist Nihal Tauro receives grand welcome in hometown

Mangaluru, Aug 19: The finalist of Indian Idol singing reality show Nihal Tauro received grand welcome at Mangaluru International Airport on Thursday August 19.

Nihal was welcomed by parish priest of Holy Rosary Church Alangar Fr Walter D’Souza, Fr Rakesh Matthias, assistant parish priest, pastoral council members and parents Herald Tauro and Precilla Tauro, family members brother Nishan Tauro, former MLC Ivan D’Souza and others.

He also visited the Bishop’s House and sought the blessings of Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.

Later, Nihal will be accorded a grand welcome in Alangar, followed by public felicitation at Kannada Bhavan Moodbidri organised by local associations and Alva’s Institutions.

The final of Indian Idol 2021 was held on August 15. Mangalurean Nihal Tauro was one among the top six contestants. It was indeed a proud moment for the coastal region as Nihal Tauro took part in the final of a reality show on national television.

Nihal gave top notch performances before legends like A R Rahman, Asha Bosle and many more.

Nihal is the son of Herald Tauro, a banker and Precilla Tauro, a teacher, hailing from Alangar in Moodbidri.

It may be recalled here, Nihal was the winner of 'Daijiworld Studio Voice' a few years ago.

    Congrats Nihal, you are a Model from all young and aspiring singers..! Nihal had created a music fever in all over Gulf and made us all Mangalorean's Proud. I recollect how the Gulf Kannadiga's and Konkani and Tulu communities voted for Nihal through their Indian Mobiles!! This is done purely because of our Loving and Humble boy "Nihal" from Moodbidri. People didn't see any cast/creed here, they loved his music. I am sure Nihal had got votes from All over India from Music lovers. His bonding, simplicity and humble nature caught the eyes of nation and his colleagues loved him very much. Anyway Nihal reached the finals with Gods grace and great Public love for his singing Quality. He became a reason for the People to cherish in this Covid time!!     I was watching Indian Idol 12 from the starting and heard Nihal's singing. No-doubt he is Blessed and born singer. He can be compared to Pritam Chakravarthy the musical director who also has some memory issues. As a father I appreciate Nihal's father who accepted in the final that his son got lot of improvement in the Indian Idol's rounds and earlier he was not taking music as serious. This is true support, unlike other parents only glorify their children. I wish all the best to Nihal's career and may he brings more laurel to our home town.

    South Indians are never awarded with winning prize in the finals in spite of having the equal calibered talent at the national level whenever there are north indian finalists. Like, how Tulu talents are never awarded with the winning prize in the state level finals whenever there are Kannadiga finalists.     Readers, as a Mumbaikar, i would sincerely suggest that Nihal shifts his base at the earliest in this dream city, where Bollywood is located.. He must realise that all previous Indian idol stars, have faded away, they could not connect with the close knit families who run this film industry... Lobbying is not only essential but vital for survival... Every opportunity even in other linguistic languages must also be bagged for increasing his market brand in the finicky film industry !!!     Dear Nihal I do not wish to demean any of the judges or the organisers. If this show was to go according to the Musical Norms - having Hindustani Pandits around to judge - trust me, you are head and shoulders ahead of the others. The Voting system they had introduced is a meaningless method to judge a talent. You were certainly a great entertainer, highly talented singer with greatest voice as of today. Looking at the expressions and comments from majority of the judges and Special Guests, it was very clear - the system was not foolproof; Good ones went down under the voting system. We are proud of you Nihal. Keep it up. Try the American Idol, where the judgement will be purely based on your versality and talent.

    I was watching many episodes of sony's Indian Idol, I always wished may the best win, and to my surprise our kannidaga/tulava boy Nihal made a history, In my personal opinion he was better than all of the other singers, including the current winner from Himachal. He must have been the winner. Its a game of TRP's and misguided voters who only wanted to choose their candidate because he is from their town etc, and this is another challenge in India, they don't consider the real talent and good singer, they jus want to make their singer win the contest by hook or crook, Nihal has been blessed with professional singers voice and the texture of his voice/tonal quality is only meant for star singer. Ma saraswati surely dwells in her throat, and he can sing any song- Classical, modern & he is truly a telented sinder. His voice is a cross between interestingly Kishore Kumar and udit Narayan. One day he will be a most sought after professional singer like Arijit/sonu nigam/Kumar sanu I wish him all the very best.

    Shetre, Nihal is good. But Pavandeep truely deserved the trophy. He is a true musician. Don't say he won just because of gimmicks. If you say Nihal's singing is better than Pavandeep's or vice versa, I should doubt you knowledge about music.

    Indian Idol is purely for hauting Good /Best VOICE not multy talented. but any contest deciding by APP voting is fully bakwas... yes even we did, many without watching any episodes just voted Nihal becoz he is our boy..... so for On the basis of voting there should be separate trophy for Winner by counting votes.

    We all are proud of you dear Nihal Tauro. your place # 4 out of five finalist is just a number. I watch almost all the episodes of Indian Idol 12. Your voice is so melodious, magical and so sweet (like you). I think you are the first Mangalorean to reach the finalist in Indian Idol realty show. (Hindi songs) You are a gem of singer and a pride for all SK citizens . You could not win the trophy (competition was so tight) but you will surely be in Hindi playback singers list.
